super-super-super mom!

has it been a week?!? seriously? oy.

i have a good excuse for not posting in a week. really, i do! we’ve had the stomach flu making the rounds.

and right as i started feeling better, i had a big job taking school portraits for a local homeschooling co-op (more to come on that later).

so yeah, it’s been crazy.

and in the midst of all the crazy, i found myself becoming cranky and tired and wishing we all felt better and that life could be a little easier.

then i found myself thinking about this momma. of triplets. and how if she can do it (with grace and beauty, nonetheless), then i can do it.

[if you read this post, then you know that we had very crazy weather to deal with at our first shoot. this was TAKE 2 - better weather and MUCH better lighting!]

she really is super mom x 3. and she inspires me on a regular basis.

no, it’s not always easy being a momma. but it is, however, the greatest joy and blessing that you can receive in life. and when you see your chubby-cheeked mister giving his brother “loves” – that’s when you know it’s

completely worth it.

March 10, 2010 - 10:01 am Grace - Awwwwww! I know those cute kids! And that last photo is so sweet!

March 10, 2010 - 11:21 am Karli - You did such a great job with this shoot & Tasha truly does emulate a gracious and loving mama...I'm pretty sure I would go crazy and she handles it so well! Love these three babies too! Great shoot!

they say it’ll be fed ex, but i expect to see this knocking on my door today:

Stork Man →

because this is definitely a very special delivery. it’s the delivery of my new baby.

i think i’ll name her Lucy.
(party because i love that name, and partly because i know it’ll drive hot toddy crazy that i’m naming an inanimate object. heehee.)

March 3, 2010 - 9:21 am Melissa Birkeland - Everything should have a name! Amber, I really want you to do some family pics for us. Contact me and let's get it set up. Thanks!!!1

March 3, 2010 - 9:30 am Jody - I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that you already named it!!! Are you like me and check the track number numerous times a day . . . just in case it might be early . . . or just to know where it is? Awesome!!!

March 3, 2010 - 9:58 am Aamnda - Lucy... LOVE IT! Thats an awesome name for your new baby! And double bonus that it will drive him crazy! LOL

March 3, 2010 - 10:16 am Kylee Winkler - I love that you are going to name it Lucy!

March 3, 2010 - 10:32 am Erica - Ooooo! jealous! ...but happy for you!

March 3, 2010 - 1:44 pm Gena Susan - You're going to fall in love!!! The 5D rocks.

10. comments! so leave me one and tell me what YOU love on this beautiful tuesday. ( :

March 2, 2010 - 8:21 am Nicki - Oh Amber you are a woman after my own heart!!! Doris Day, absolutely adore her movies. I love the way you word things on your blog. Reliable friends are so important.... being one and having one is so important. :) We don't always (I) don't always hit the mark but you really brought it home how much we need that. Thanks for sharing your list; I loved every one of you answers. 70's music even makes this list which totally made me giggle at you.... you are so young and yet vintage at the same time. love you!

March 2, 2010 - 9:18 am Maggie - Okay random, but I love and eat almost every day Frosted Mini Wheats too! And I am excited for our coffee date on Thursday! Have a fun Tuesday!

March 2, 2010 - 7:46 pm Karli - you friend. you. thanks again for today-totally made my birthday. love you!

the F family in da (BODO) ‘hood [part two of two]

sorry, peeps – no rapping today. i will, however, share some photos of our amazing downtown boise… see any spots you recognize??

you can always tell who the silly ones are in the family because when i say, “make a funny face!” they do it without a smidgen of hesitation.

p.s. kids playing games and having fun = fun photo shoot for everyone. (hey! that rhymed! does that count as a rap??)

March 1, 2010 - 11:33 am Pamela - That was such a fun photo shoot! Now everytime I am downtown and see all these places I think of the fun we had that day! I feel pretty cool that you are dedicating two blogs to us! :-)

the F family in da ‘hood [part one of two]

i was inspired to write a little rap song to introduce this shoot. yes, inspired:

She called me up, she’s like “Yo Photog!

We want some pics in our ‘hood with our dog!

This is where we live and love and play

and chill together in our day-to-day.”

So over to their ‘hood I did head

“Just play and have fun!” is what I said.

And then I took pictures a plenty

that this family will treasure in year 2020.

\\\\wicky – wicky -wicky\\\\     (does that make you think of a record being scratched???)

part 2 coming soon!

p.s. they totally don’t have a dog – it just fit well with the rap.

February 25, 2010 - 8:37 am Kelsey Peterson - hahaha love the rap! Actually it was pretty good! Love the photos! I totally dig your capture their personality rather than posing and positioning people. Really made me appreciate you when at my sisters wedding the photographer took like 30 minutes to make sure everyone's head was tilted right before he snapped his first picture.

February 25, 2010 - 9:21 am Karli - You are a big dork....but I love ya! This is so funny and the wicky wicky wicky totally reminded me of a record being scratched! Love it. Pam's family always takes darling pics too. Cute cute!

February 25, 2010 - 9:56 am Kylee Winkler - I think you should look into a second career as a rapper, just sayin :) Love the pictures.

February 26, 2010 - 8:18 am Athena - I love your rap...you should totally dress up hard core rapper style and video yourself doing the rap and put it on your blog...I dare you!

March 1, 2010 - 11:48 am Pamela - I had no idea you had such mad rapping skills, Amber! You are awesome! We love you!

ten [things that make me happy] on tuesday

1. finding new pandora stations that rock. (my current favorite: Tears for Fears Radio)

3. celebrating seven years with hot toddy.

4. having preggo friends who let me borrow their red fat baby boots because they can’t fit into them! : D

trashed

my wedding dress is hanging in one of the closets somewhere in our house. i’ve worn it once (and maybe tried it on a couple times over the years, but let’s not talk about THAT right now).

as much as i love to glance at it once every two-and-a-half years, i would much more prefer to have sweet photos of me, wearing the dress, doing something rad. unfortunately, i had never heard of trash the dress when i got married almost 7 years ago. but you can bet i’m telling every bride that comes my way!

because, really, who doesn’t want pictures like this???:

and you should know that becca, the gorgeous girl in these photos, is a complete outdoorsy sort of gal. she hunts. she camps. she backpacks. she four-wheels. so the location of her shoot was perfect for who she is. (and the location? her backyard. yeah. this is her backyard. told you she was outdoorsy.)

maybe you’re thinking, “yeah, but i’m not outdoorsy. i’m much more of a coffee-shop, chillin’ on my laptop, listening to my i-pod sort of chick. this whole laying in the field stuff is definitely NOT me.”

to that i say: let’s go find your favorite coffee shop and do your trash the dress there! (they won’t mind – i asked.) we’ll have you in your duds, wearing your i-pod while drinking a skinny milky way (my drink of choice!). and that would be a very cool picture.

p.s. this is definitely my favorite shot from the day… i love the sky and the tilty angle and the lighting and the view and the fact that beautiful becca convinced me to do a couple shots in front of the hay bales (or is it straw??? i can never tell.) before we called it quits:

so, soon-to-be-brides, think about trashing your dress. or if you’ve been married for a few months/years and you’re thinking how much you WISH you had photos in your dress doing rad things… get that baby out of the closet and give me a call!

I WANT TO KNOW: where do YOU think would be a cool location to trash the dress??!?

February 17, 2010 - 9:19 pm Nellie - A huge water fountain!!

February 17, 2010 - 10:54 pm Maggie - Those are beautiful-love the vintage feel to them too. hmmm, thinking, thinking, I have a dress hanging in my closet....

February 18, 2010 - 8:46 am Amy - I would have to lose a few baby pounds before I could trash my dress! ;) I think it would be fun to go out into the woods, near a creek on a warm summer day and have a blast!

February 18, 2010 - 9:56 am Elizabeth Peterson - Ohhhhh pick me pick me! I never got to have bridals done in my dress and lets face it, we were poor and couldnt even afford a real photographer. It makes me sad that I couldn't have gotten really good professional pictures for my wedding. Do you think 12 years later is a little too long to have pictures done?

February 18, 2010 - 6:51 pm Becca - Amber...I loved doing the photo shoot with you! I had such a blast, it was the best idea ever! I am so glad now that I have these awesome pics in...YES...my backyard to remember my dress because face it on my wedding day it was all about the family...so few pics of just me in my dress! Thanks to you I have all the wonderful pictures I could ever ask for of me in my gorgeous dress.

February 18, 2010 - 11:08 pm Sarah - i love these amber!! they are so fun!! becca -- just one question if you ever read this....where did you get your gorgeous dress!?

February 19, 2010 - 1:43 am Jenny - This is SUCH an awesome idea!
