has it been a week?!? seriously? oy.
i have a good excuse for not posting in a week. really, i do! we’ve had the stomach flu making the rounds.
and right as i started feeling better, i had a big job taking school portraits for a local homeschooling co-op (more to come on that later).
so yeah, it’s been crazy.
and in the midst of all the crazy, i found myself becoming cranky and tired and wishing we all felt better and that life could be a little easier.
then i found myself thinking about this momma. of triplets. and how if she can do it (with grace and beauty, nonetheless), then i can do it.

[if you read this post, then you know that we had very crazy weather to deal with at our first shoot. this was TAKE 2 - better weather and MUCH better lighting!]

she really is super mom x 3. and she inspires me on a regular basis.

no, it’s not always easy being a momma. but it is, however, the greatest joy and blessing that you can receive in life. and when you see your chubby-cheeked mister giving his brother “loves” – that’s when you know it’s
completely worth it.
Stork Man →

because this is definitely a very special delivery. it’s the delivery of my new baby.

i think i’ll name her Lucy.
(party because i love that name, and partly because i know it’ll drive hot toddy crazy that i’m naming an inanimate object. heehee.)
so i totally don’t have time to be posting right now – i’ve got to get ready to go celebrate some birthday with my long-time bestie karli! but let’s do a super-fast
TEN [things i love] ON TUESDAY
1. my honda cr-v (christmas present from hot toddy about three years ago).
2. friends that are always consistent and reliable.
3. weddings that are out-of-the-norm and fun. (here’s a good place to start!)
4. frosted mini-wheats. i could (and do) eat them every single day.
5. costco. (supplier of bulk frosted mini-wheats.)
6. cute shoes

7. doris day movies.
8. my bright green purse… it rarely matches what i’m wearing, but i take it everywhere, every day.
9. 70’s music – i can’t get enough of it right now!
10. comments! so leave me one and tell me what YOU love on this beautiful tuesday. ( :

i was inspired to write a little rap song to introduce this shoot. yes, inspired:
She called me up, she’s like “Yo Photog!
We want some pics in our ‘hood with our dog!
This is where we live and love and play
and chill together in our day-to-day.”
So over to their ‘hood I did head
“Just play and have fun!” is what I said.
And then I took pictures a plenty
that this family will treasure in year 2020.
\\\\wicky – wicky -wicky\\\\ (does that make you think of a record being scratched???)

part 2 coming soon!
p.s. they totally don’t have a dog – it just fit well with the rap.

last week i was tagged by ashley ann photography (LOVE her photography and her site!) to do ten things that make me happy. it fits in well with my ten on tuesday theme, so here ya go:
ten [things that make me happy] on tuesday
1. finding new pandora stations that rock. (my current favorite: Tears for Fears Radio)
2. driving up to the coffee drive-through window and finding out the person in front of me paid for my drink. (has that ever happened to you??? it’s the coolest. do it for someone else tomorrow and seriously MAKE THEIR DAY.)
3. celebrating seven years with hot toddy.
4. having preggo friends who let me borrow their red fat baby boots because they can’t fit into them! : D

5. the salad at olive garden. i tried to mimic the salad dressing this week and it was good, but not the same. i just really love that salad. (and that’s not something i say often.)
6. this site
7. clean sheet day!
8. scotch-n-sodas from burger west in ontario (oregon). mmmmmmm…

my wedding dress is hanging in one of the closets somewhere in our house. i’ve worn it once (and maybe tried it on a couple times over the years, but let’s not talk about THAT right now).
as much as i love to glance at it once every two-and-a-half years, i would much more prefer to have sweet photos of me, wearing the dress, doing something rad. unfortunately, i had never heard of trash the dress when i got married almost 7 years ago. but you can bet i’m telling every bride that comes my way!
because, really, who doesn’t want pictures like this???:

and you should know that becca, the gorgeous girl in these photos, is a complete outdoorsy sort of gal. she hunts. she camps. she backpacks. she four-wheels. so the location of her shoot was perfect for who she is. (and the location? her backyard. yeah. this is her backyard. told you she was outdoorsy.)
maybe you’re thinking, “yeah, but i’m not outdoorsy. i’m much more of a coffee-shop, chillin’ on my laptop, listening to my i-pod sort of chick. this whole laying in the field stuff is definitely NOT me.”
to that i say: let’s go find your favorite coffee shop and do your trash the dress there! (they won’t mind – i asked.) we’ll have you in your duds, wearing your i-pod while drinking a skinny milky way (my drink of choice!). and that would be a very cool picture.

p.s. this is definitely my favorite shot from the day… i love the sky and the tilty angle and the lighting and the view and the fact that beautiful becca convinced me to do a couple shots in front of the hay bales (or is it straw??? i can never tell.) before we called it quits:

so, soon-to-be-brides, think about trashing your dress. or if you’ve been married for a few months/years and you’re thinking how much you WISH you had photos in your dress doing rad things… get that baby out of the closet and give me a call!
I WANT TO KNOW: where do YOU think would be a cool location to trash the dress??!?
