Well, maybe not outside, but my calendar is rapidly filling up to where I’m looking at the next couple months and thinking “Holy Guacamole, I’m almost BOOKED until December!” Why am I even telling you this?
Well, based on past experience (AHEM, AHEM . . . No, I’m not talking about YOU, Mrs. Procrastinator. I swear, I’m not. This is some hypothetical person.) I know that some people tend to wait until mid-November to start thinking about family photos for Christmas cards. And that’s precisely when I get a frantic phone call or email, asking if we can schedule a shoot, like, NOW.
In the past I’ve usually been able to oblige these harried, last-minute requests. But I can see now that it just ain’t gonna happen this year. My October and November are rapidly filling up with family/engagement/wedding shoots, and I am only going to schedule so many. (I’ve learned my lesson when it comes to overbooking. It makes for a really crazy, stressed-out momma.) Oh, and my September? Completely booked with weddings. So, literally, it’s going to be first-come, first-serve with the Christmas family shoots.

Oh, and speaking of Christmas – my girl Jessica over at vol.25 is at it again. She’s got THE CUTEST Christmas overlay sets available (and ON SALE!) right now. And what I love best about these is they’re so versatile – you could use them for so many other projects/photos than just Christmas-themed. Go check ‘em out!

This shoot was magic.
I can’t think of any other way to explain it.
Alexz contacted me about doing engagement/wedding photos for her and Kevin, and as she explained her vision for the shoot I got goosebumps. Alexz is an artist, and she describes her art as “cute and creepy.” She takes her inspiration from Tim Burton, Meatloaf and Walt Disney. Just imagine for a moment if you mixed those three together . . . it makes for a bizarre, unique and fabulous combination. Alexz is one-of-a-kind, which is why I immediately liked her and immediately knew I would do anything to be her event photographer.
For the engagement shoot, Alexz wanted to do a Tim Burton-esque “Alice in Wonderland” theme. We talked about locations, but nothing felt quite right. About two weeks before the shoot, Alexz contacted me and said that she had discovered the PERFECT location by accident. As she started describing it, I again got goosebumps. Overgrown property with a large abandoned Victorian house. Wild rose bushes. Trees so dense it felt like evening no matter what time of day it was. Magic.
This shoot is in my Top 3 Favorite Shoots of All Time. I expect that their wedding, which is next month, will be in my Top 3 Favorite Weddings of All Time.
I know I already shared this image in the sneak peek, but I love it so much I’m sharing it again:

to be continued . . .
I can’t get over how darling this baby girl is. Don’t you just want to smooch her little cheeks??

Anybody else want to finish that sentence with “Carmen Sandiego?” heehee
But for now, we’ll fill in the blank with “Amber Fischer.” You may be wondering where I’m hiding these days, as my blog posts have been few and far between. Well, in these early days of pregnancy, my day looks something like:
sleep, take care of Little Miss, eat, try not to get sick, sleep some more, and repeat over and over. In between all of that I am just trying to stay on top of the many shoots I have to edit. Blog posts??? Ha. Those can wait til the 2nd trimester, right?!?
Even thought I’m MIA on my blog, I’ve got a few things going on here and there that you might be interested in . . .
Brass Razoo was featured in the August issue of Lucky as one of their top 10 picks for new boutiques around the nation (GO BRASS RAZOO!!!), which meant that one of the photos I took was IN A MAGAZINE. Woot!!

And in other news, I was asked by Jessica of Vol.25 to join her overlay design team. I love Jessica’s designs and am excited to be part of such a talented, creative bunch. Go to Vol.25 to see some of my photos with Jessica’s overlay magic!

Here’s Jessica’s latest release – ahoy! overlay set – and it’s on sale for another week! Go check it out!

And I promise that one of these days, when I have a little more energy, I’ll blog about all the amazing shoots I’ve done in the past couple months. ( :
xo, Amber
I’ve known this amazing girl since she was itty bitty. And now she’s a senior. I feel so OLD.
Thanks for the fun night, Victoria!

Travis and Sara, every family should be a little more like yours. I loved hanging out with you guys!

I had to do a sneak peek that included a shot of Matt’s car. It’s just SO COOL.

I had to share this picture ‘cuz I’m completely smitten with her shoes. I think I drooled a little bit when I saw them.

Chuck and Nerissa got married this weekend at Olive Lake, Oregon, and I was the lucky one who got to photograph the event.
It was beautiful for so many reasons.
